Rules and Regulations

You have made a choice to enter this house and be a part of the sober living environment provided by Vera House. The following house rules are set up to ensure that the house operates smoothly. The rules ensure that all guests understand what is expected of them and promote a cooperative and supportive environment. Any guest who violates the following house rules is subject too immediate termination of residency and will forfeit any remaining rent monies.

1. Alcohol and drug use, possession, paraphernalia, and/or sales are strictly prohibited. Any guest, who is found to have used, is under the influence or in possession of drugs or alcohol will be immediately dismissed. All guests will submit to random drug testing at their own expense upon discretion of the management.

2. Violence or the threat of violence will result in immediate eviction.

3. There is no smoking allowed inside the house. Smoking is permitted in designated areas.

4. Participation in the weekly house meeting is mandatory. There are no exceptions.

5. All guests are expected to attend the minimum 12 Step meetings (such as AA, NA, CA, etc.) as follows:

  • Employed Full Time    =      5 meetings per week
  • Employed Part Time    =      8 meetings per week
  • Unemployed        =    10 meetings per week

6. Guests will agree to obtain a 12 Step sponsor and 1 commitment at a meeting (i.e. coffee maker, clean up chairperson, literature chairperson, etc.) within 2 weeks of entry into Vera House.

7. Sexual involvement between guests or on the premises of Vera House is prohibited. Pornographic or sexually explicit materials are not allowed in the house.

8. Guests are expected to keep their bedrooms neat and clean at all time. Beds must be made immediately after use. No food is allowed in any of the bedrooms.

9. Vera House will be kept clean, neat, and safe. In keeping with that goal, each guest will be assigned a chore that is to be completed as assigned.
10. Visitors are expected to be clean and sober, as well as courteous to other residents. Any visitor who appears to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will be asked to leave and will not be welcome back.

11. Guests are expected to be good neighbors not just “non-disturbing” neighbors.

12. All items left at a Vera House after thirty (30) days of leaving the facility will be considered a donation.

13. All legally prescribed medication that is obtained from a licensed physician must be made known to management. Any long-term medications found not to be conducive to a sober living environment may result in termination of residency.

14. All guests are responsible for their own medical condition and/or treatment. Assistance will be offered in case of emergency by way of 911. Vera House will not assume financial liability for such emergency treatment.

15. The following will be grounds for dismissal with NO refunds of any monies.

  • Refusal to comply with administrators or managers enforcement of rules.
  • Non-compliance or willful refusal to adhere to the rules set forth at Vera House.
  • Mysterious disappearances.
  • Failure to provide two (2) week notice and clean drug test, if requested, prior to moving.
  • Disruptive and unharmonious behavior that effects the atmosphere in the home.
